Singles have one more thing to worry about besides choking on a chicken bone and having no one around to administer the Heimlich: energy consumption. According to a new report by SMR Research Corporation, "people who decide to live alone, now more than one of every four households, and people who buy the McMansions, are those who squander our energy resources." The study found that single-person households use 18.4% more energy per capita than two-person households and 52.8% more than three-person households. [The Ground Floor]
