Taking a page from our sister site Racked LA, we're asking you to look at this home and vote on whether you like or dislike it—your choices are 'That's Rather Lovely!,' 'So close,' 'I feel strangely ambivalent about it,' or 'That's Rather Hideous!'
This was going to be a 'That's Rather Hideous' post but a friend suggested that perhaps it's not hideous enough. The kitchen details reveal what looks like perfectly acceptable midcentury kitchens. But then the building seems to have a bad case of bipolar disorder. All that stark white paint would make a serial killer feel right at home. But the exterior seems to have taken a left turn. What are we looking at? Faux Greek Revival? An homage to a watered-down New Orleans' French Quarter home? "Classical" columns, pediments, and a large bay window, all surrounded by cracked concrete. Are we overthinking this? Is our friend right and it's not as hideous as we think it is? It's currently for sale for $619,000 - a flipper's price if ever there was one, since it was just sold in August of 2008 for $250,000. Listing is here.
