The current issue of Palisadian Post has an excellent story about Dr. Marcus Eriksen of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation, the guy who sailed from Long Beach to Hawaii last summer to draw attention to all the terrible things plastic products do to our oceans. "'The ocean is like your toilet bowl, but it never flushes..The ocean is becoming a plastic soup." Quite a relevant story given all the attention on plastic bags as of late. But check out that vessel. It's made of "15,000 plastic bottles, a deck from salvaged sailboat masts and a cabin made from the fuselage of a Cessna airplane." OK, there's our biggest nightmare realized: Plane + ocean. You are very brave, doctor. Read more about his organization here.
