The best posts usually originate in our comments. To give appreciation to our amazing (and sometimes angry) commenters we feature their broad strokes of wisdom in a tidy comment roundup.

1. Los Angeles Backpedals on Downtown, Says Lower Your Expectations: "Actually a less frenzied and less expensive phase for downtown living will help tremendously to get a critical mass of people - and one that is more interesting and mixed income. The pause in top down development will give residents and smaller business owners a chance develop things organically in store fronts- which will make downtown even better. Just wait another 5 years for the economy to regroup and there will be another significant boom."

2. Morphosis's Epic New Astronomy and Astrophysics Center "I like this too, but for one detail: if I were conjuring the 'epic tumult of space', I would maybe clad the building in some dark shiny aggregate; black with agate in it or something. Not some scheissbraun crockery shards."

3. That's Rather Hideous: Where the 1970s Went to Die: Don't hate the double wide! "Pre-Fab" is just a fancier name for what is some of the most utilitarian housing around. See how much technology has improved...now you can charge exorbitant sums for these things in Malibu (Pt. Dume Club & Paradise Cove). BTW, just rip off the paneling and you can dry wall. You can also rip up the carpet and lay down any flooring you want. With a few grand you can have the modern, eco-friendly, bamboo floored, Ikea kitchened pad you've always dreamed of. You just have to have, "like vision maaaan!"
