New To Market: Paul Williams-Designed Brentwood Estate

New, 13 comments

Would you believe the architect of this house is the same architect who designed this lovely midcentury gem we featured recently just a few miles away? And yet it is, at least according to the brokers. This 1942 Paul Williams-designed eight-bedroom, eight-bath estate on three acres includes a "long gated drive leads to circular motor court, and 3-car garage with chauffeurs quarters. Seven fireplaces, upstairs media room, sun room, library, wine cellar, and two bedroom staff wing." There's also a pool, cabana, pool house and koi pond, of course. But here's where it gets interesting. It seems the house is owned by real estate mogul Jeff Greene, whom Forbes dubbed "The Reluctant Billionaire" - a real estate mogul (and close personal friend of Mike Tyson, Paris Hilton and Heidi Fleiss) who lost almost his entire fortune in the 80s, regained it during the latest boom, and then made even more shorting the real estate market. About $800 million more. So what's he hoping to earn from the sale of this house? Asking price: $19.995 million.
