With a population of fewer than 800, the city of Industry has 84 registered voters, according to the Los Angeles Times, and yesterday, those voters approved a bond that would bring an NFL stadium to the area. Next big event comes Thursday. "On Thursday, the Industry City Council is expected to ratify a supplemental environmental impact report that would describe the stadium's effect on the area. Although some local cities have supported the stadium plan, its closest neighbors, Walnut and Diamond Bar, have mounted opposition to the proposal, saying that traffic and other adverse effects on their cities could be dire." The developers behind the project say they expect a lawsuit if the city council does ratify the EIR. But this could be all for naught: The Los Angeles' Chamber of Commerce recently stated their interest in seeing the stadium come to the city. [LA Times]
