LOS ANGELES: This sounds only mildly intimidating: The SCIFI (Southern California Institute of Future Initiatives) program at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) and the Architect’s Newspaper are holding a contest around LA County’s transit infrastructure. More: "The competition will encourage entrants to develop solutions that dramatically rethink the relationship between transit systems, public space and urban redevelopment. Competitors will be encouraged to work within the parameters of LA County Ballot Measure R. Their entries will focus on specific rail extension projects and also take a look at larger-scale, inter-related transit planning challenges." Official site is here. [Curbed InBox]
LOS ANGELES: After some lively discussion on the city's parking requirements and the overabundance of Hondas taking up valuable spaces at 8000 Sunset, we receive this reader dispatch: "I went to the gym (Crunch) yesterday and noticed that all of the Hondas parked in the garage have been removed. I can only guess that it was the posting in Curbed LA that got this to happen. Nice job." Let's see if those suckers come back. [Curbed InBox]
