Let's take in the renderings and latest construction shots of the Solair project, that pricey 22-story luxury condo development rising at Wilshire and Western. These renderings are on commercial real estate firm CB Richard Ellis' web site, and show off the two-story retail component going in next to the condo development. Maybe it's just the construction scaffolding or maybe it was the 20-something guy who nonchalantly took a piss--on the Metro stop wall--right next to us on Sunday, but this whole corner can feel a little dingy at times. So improvements are nice to see. But how about some trees and benches, Solair? And yes, that's a huge panel for a supergraphic on the retail wall (and the rendering makes it look far smaller than it looks in real life, see arrow shot). The whole project, including the Solair development could be done by spring, according to a source associated with the project. As far as the sign wall, and what'll it'll hold (i.e. digital billboard, supergraphic), it is subject to approval by the city. "It’ll be whatever the city says it should be," he said. Hmmm. Meanwhile, the last time there was a check, there was some hopeful news about a possible art mural--let's hope that is moving forward.
