Century City's MGM tower is making amends for its enormous carbon footprint by installing 1,408 solar panels--covering more than an acre--on the top of its parking structure. The panels will generate 570,095 kWh of energy and eliminate 277 metric tons of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to 31,452 gallons of gasoline or 92 acres of trees. According to the press release, the building's owner, Constellation, Inc., wants to take steps toward a greener MGM tower. Is Century City winning the green race? This move follows the recent instillation of waterless urinals at Watt Plaza. [Businesswire]
