The National Trust for Historic Preservation recognizes Santa Barbara as one of its 2009 Distinctive Destinations for its combination of historic preservation and vacation destination. Citing the Santa Barbara County Courthouse, El Presidio State Historic Park, Casa de la Guerra, and Mission Santa Barbara, the National Trust lauds its commitment to preservation.
