Glendale Reconsiders its Boxing Ban

In 1947, Glendale outlawed the sinful sport of professional fighting, but now local promoter/professional boxer Kahren Harutyunyan wants to produce boxing matches at Civic Auditorium, a venue that lost $400,000 last fiscal year, reports the Glendale News-Press' Jason Wells. There may be a potential economic boom to bringing back boxing, but local residents like Rev. Richard Garner, senior pastor of Glendale First United Methodist Church, worry about all the vices that accompany boxing. The City Council will discuss the issue at a meeting tonight.
