CurbedWire: Highland River of Green, Free Yamashiro Dinner

New, 9 comments

HOLLYWOOD: Today, councilmember Tom LaBonge broke ground on new, landscaped medians along Highland Avenue in Hollywood. More via the press release: "The two new medians fill in a gap between the Highland medians in Hancock Park south of Melrose and those in Hollywood north of Santa Monica Blvd. Funding was provided through the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Call for Projects. “These medians will create a river of green down Highland Avenue,” Councilmember LaBonge said. “We’ve been installing them as public money becomes available and they are transforming Highland from a strictly industrial area to a pleasant avenue with the industry that we still need as well as outdoor cafes and shops. This is the future of Hollywood.” [Photo via Tom LaBonge's web site] [Curbed InBox]

ECHO PARK: The latest newsletter from local Echo Park real estate agent Kan Shapiro at Silverwood Properties notes that for any referral that closes on a new deal on two lots in Elysian Park (worth $60,000) he'll give you a free dinner at Yamashiro. Depending on how you feel about the food at Yamashiro, that free dinner could be a plus or a minus. [Curbed Inbox]
