CurbedWire: Museum of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, More Home Tours!

New, 1 comment

HOLLYWOOD:

Back in November, Frenchman Christian de Portzamparc, pictured, was picked to design the new Museum of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Renderings of the project, which will rise on two square blocks bounded by Cahuenga Boulevard and Vine St. were supposed to be released this summer. Well, a representative for the Academy tells us that due to the lengthy process of getting this thing designed, ie, planning for the classrooms, halls, etc, that it is still in the design phase. And it sounds like it could be a while longer before any renderings emerge. Patience. This is only "the most ambitious monument to the worldwide influence of film," according to the NY Times. BRENTWOOD/PACIFIC PALISADES: More home tours, but it's unclear if boxed lunches are involved. Guessing not. On Sunday, the American Institute of Architects is offering tours of homes by LEAN Arch, Bestor Architecture, FIN Architecture, Abramson Teiger Architects, and Holtz Architecture. Tickets are $85 each. [Curbed InBox]
