USC Study: How Green Was My Alley

New, 12 comments

Call us officially obsessed with the green alley project profiled in the today's Los Angeles Times. Run by the USC Center for Sustainable Cities, the program is studying alternate uses to the 12,309 blocks of alleys in the city (914 linear miles or about half the size of Griffith Park), be it adding grass to create parks out of the alleys, or reconfiguring the alleys to reduce pollution runoff. According to the paper, the City Council, the Community Redevelopment Agency and the Board of Public Works are simply looking at the findings but will "discuss potential pilot projects and funding in coming months." These photos are from their study; the link is here.
