ConstructionWatch: Apartments Planned For Metropolitan Hotel Site

New, 7 comments

Nothing like some chewed-up Sunset Boulevard buildings to make Los Angeles feel even more apocalyptic. This is 5825 Sunset Blvd, site of developer DS Ventures' (also behind that tranny-clearing Lexington development) plans to rehab the Metropolitan Hotel into "52 apartments and convert the adjacent building into 40,000 square feet of office space," according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. "A second phase will include an additional 79 units on a parking lot to the west of the site, starting in February 2008." It's not clear if any of these plans have changed. But according to earlier reports, before the great Hollywood Revitalization, the hotel was a popular place for some old friends: "NWA, Dr. Dre and Suge Knight sorta lived/terrorized the place for a short period of time during the early 90s," according to a Curbed tipster.
