EaterTastings: Cafe Was Finally Is, BBQ in Weho, Luau in BH

New, 14 comments

The latest dish from Eater LA, Curbed's hedonistic eating and drinking blog...

HOLLYWOOD: It's official. After numerous delays, Ivan Kane's Cafe Was will open this weekend in the former Schwab's space in the Sunset + Vine complex.Expect "three bars, lounge area, staircase to nowhere and revolving piano."

WEST HOLLYWOOD: The barbeque desert known as West Hollywood (we don't count Zeke's) may soon find itself with an oasis. Venice's Baby Blues BBQ is going to open a second location in the former Cha Cha Cha space on Santa Monica Blvd. Expect an opening "sometime next year."

BEVERLY HILLS: Eater checks in on the progress of Pacific Rim-inspired Luau on Bedford Drive. The menu will feature "macadamia-crusted lamb, braised pork spring rolls, and a pupu platter with Wagyu meatballs and firecracker shrimp among others." But more importantly, in an ode to the original restaurant of the same name, they plan to serve some of the rum-centric signature drinks in hollowed out coconut and pineapple shells.
