Shipping Container Hotel Opens Across the Pond

New, 29 comments

More evidence that your children and grandchildren will live in shipping containers and be educated in schools made out of these tin cans. Continuing our coverage of shipping container architecture (local architect Peter DeMaria is a big booster), the 120-room Travelodge Uxbridge in London, which was built from from 86 high-strength steel containers, has opened. Costs were cut by 25 percent, and it took just 20 days to put together. One caveat: "Hardly breathtaking architecture," according to the BBC. In other words, perfect for LA.
