New To Market: Mount Washington Historic Cultural Monument

New, 27 comments

Another Historic Cultural Monument comes on the market. This one features "intricate stone detailing grac[ing] the exterior and fram[ing] the Queen Anne/Colonial Revival window sashes. Heavily influenced by the arts and crafts movement, you'll see exceptional woodwork throughout." Ok, but the listing agent seems to think the house was built in the 1980s according to the Redfin listing. While the city declared the house a landmark in 1988, the house was actually built in 1892, making it practically pre-historic by LA standards. Was fire even discovered back then? But the house does have some charming details, including period sconces, rough hewn plank floors, and a clawfoot tub. The four-bedroom, two-bath home in Mount Washington on Professor's Row is asking $695,000.
