The City Council is thisclose to upping garbage pickup fees from $26 per homeowner to $36.32 and from $17.16 per month to $24.33 for apartment dwellers that live in buildings with four or fewer units, reports the Los Angeles Times' David Zahnhiser. If the proposal goes through, trash fees will have more than tripled in a two-year period. Also stinky is the fact that Angelenos were told previously that the additional trash money would go toward extra cops but City Controller Laura Chick found that most of the money went to LAPD expenses and cop raises.
