Say what you will about LA, but this is a city not lacking in library construction sites. And on August 18th, there's a dedication ceremony/official opening of the new Exposition Library at 3900 S. Western Ave. Formerly known as the Expo Park- Mary Mcleode Bethune Library, the 14,500 square-foot facility joins other newish projects such as the Harbor City-Harbor Gateway Branch; additionally, upgrades were made to the North Hollywood Regional Branch, while Silver Lake is getting a fancy new branch. This project will be first building in the Eighth District to meet Gold LEED standards. The old library, site of that shooting last summer, closed in June and is being sold by the city.
