ECHO PARK/ELYSIAN HEIGHTS: Here we go again. More talk about what to do with our aging reservoirs. From a flyer mailed to area residents about a public meeting to get comments from the public: "The City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is proposing the Elysian Reservoir Water Quality Improvement Project, which would replace Elysian Reservoir with two buried concrete tanks....the area atop the tank would then be developed for recreational use." How about a miniature golf course with a windmill? Meeting is at Logan Elementary school at 10 am this Saturday. [Curbed InBox]
PICO UNION: Rounding out the housing talk. Witmer Heights Apartments, a 49-unit complex for low-income families at 116 - 124 South Witmer in the Pico-Union neighborhood opened today, reports City Council President Eric Garcetti's office. "In addition to the one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, the complex also features two community rooms, a rooftop terrace, laundry facilities, a computer center, and a tot lot." [Curbed InBox]
