Planned Pigeonhood: Hollywood's Flying Rats Make Fewer Babies

New, 7 comments

The Los Angeles Times has some steaming-hot pigeon news—thanks to contraceptive kibble slipped into Hollywood bird feeders, the neighborhood's flying rat population has dropped dramatically. After four months and $50,000, a spot that once housed 438 pigeons is now home to about 40. The hope was to cut the pigeon population in half by 2012, but it looks like the neighborhood groups (the people who paid and installed the five automatic rooftop feeders/egg-killers) may achieve that in two years. Shouldn't the religious right be up in arms? UPDATED: Headline changed.
