If you woke up in downtown this morning and thought, "Do I smell burning Chinese-made footwear?", well, yes, that's exactly what that odor was. An early morning fire swept through a two-story commercial building at 11th and Los Angeles Street in the Garment District. By 7:30 am, no flames could be seen from the street and fire fighters---CBS2 says 150 fire fighters were on the scene--were helpfully re-stocking the shoe racks at Mary's Collection.
