MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA TO JOIN LOCAL SAFETY OFFICIALS TO ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF THE GREAT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SHAKEOUT CAMPAIGN
PASADENA, CA - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will join local safety
officials, community and business leaders, and emergency managers at a
news conference to announce the launch of the “Great Southern
California Shakeout” campaign, Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 10:00 AM at
the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) - Beckman Auditorium,
332 South Michigan Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91106.
The Great Southern California Shakeout is a region-wide campaign geared
to encourage residents, schools, businesses and organizations to get
ready for big earthquakes, and to help residents prevent disasters from
becoming catastrophes. The campaign will call on everyone to participate
in the largest earthquake drill in United States history, the Golden
Guardian safety exercise and the ShakeOut Scenario during the week of
November 12, 2008 - November 16, 2008.
