Somebody needs to post armed guards at substations or something. The OC Register reports 14,000 people were left powerless this morning in western Orange County thanks to more copper wire thievery from an electrical substation. "The outage lasted from 6:30 a.m. until 7:41 a.m., and affected 13,759 homes in La Palma, Cypress, Buena Park and Cerritos, said Gil Alexander, a spokesman for Southern California Edison. Edison shut down power at the Ely substation in Buena Park at 6:30 a.m. after a worker noticed that copper grounding wire had been stolen." [OC Register]
