The Treesavers, the group who tried to save the Santa Monica ficus trees from destruction, just issued a press release noting they will hold a public "Memorial Service" this Friday to mourn the trees. Via the release: "At the “Memorial Service”, Treesavers of all ages will be wearing black and green and carrying candles and before and after pictures of the murdered Ficus trees. After a brief “Memorial Service” at Arizona and The Third Street Promenade, the Treesavers will form a funeral procession and proceed, candles and pictures in hand, to each fallen Ficus tree’s gravesite. At each gravesite the Treesavers will form a Memorial Circle, sharing memories of the tree." Meanwhile, the Santa Monica Daily Press has the latest on the pending carob tree removal. [SM Treesavers]
