Construction Watch: USC's School of Cinematic Arts Nearly Done

New, 29 comments

Checking in almost six months since our last peek at George Lucas' massive gift ($175 million) to USC, the School of Cinematic Arts is speeding right along, with an expected completion date of Dec 2008. A reader with a shaky hand and a cell phone sends in these latest shots of the faux-Mediterranean 130,000-square-foot school. Thus far, it is strikingly (and sadly) faithful to the renderings. What's inside: "a 200-seat theater, a 100-seat theater, two 80-seat theaters and four 40-seat theaters; community spaces such as a cafe; and central plaza."
