Thank you for your participation this week. We loved, we laughed, we answered. Please feel free to email us at la@curbed.com or leave a comment if you have an update or a new question. Digital pics are welcomed.

[Work in Runyon Canyon - shore up that hillside!]

1) Downtown/Garment District: Regarding the white and blue-greenish glass box construction going up in the industrial part of Downtown LA, a commenter answers: "that is LA FACE ( Los Angeles Fashion Center) on 14th and San Pedro in the fashion district. It will be like the San Pedro mall, except indoors, and it will accommodate wholesale clothing stores. The construction is almost done, with escrows closing very soon." We also pulled up a few links: Klorman Construction Co has a rendering and the Downtown News has a blurb if you scroll way down.

2) Hollywood: We called Runyon Canyon - it has a phone number! - and were informed by a kind man, possibly the Canyon's dad, that they are reinforcing the mountain as part of the FEMA funded repairs for those crazy rainstorms we had two or three years ago. Construction crews are drilling 40-foot deep holes, will install those steel beams and reinforce with concrete. The gentleman stated the work should be completed in a month or so, but he wasn't 100 percent positive.

3) Miracle Mile: The post office on Wilshire at Detroit is historic reports commenter Don: "...the building was originally the Kress Department Store, built 1937 . It's a Federally declared cultural monument (#2173). The location was used as the location of the "Golden State Savings and Loan" in the movie Falling Down."
