Gussying Up Downtown's Hayward Hotel

Work started earlier this month on a major revamp of the Hayward Hotel in the Historic Core, and blogdowntown digs up the latest and greatest, including a rendering of the finished product (pictured above). Glassy! The building's older, angled awnings were covered in pigeon droppings; the new ones are flat to combat that most disgusting of problems, Curbed surmises. Via blogdowntown: "According to Eric Shomof of Pacific Investments, part of the company's plans for the Hayward involve giving each of the building's a different treatment. The work is being designed to reflect the original architectural styles, while giving a cohesive feel to the retail spaces."
