"No tension. No pretension." That's the new motto of El Segundo's downtown, a tagline that'll appear on forthcoming banners along Grand Avenue, reports the Daily Breeze. In addition, new lights are coming to the area's trees, all part of a push "city leaders and shopkeepers hope will give the fledgling retail core some identity at long last." While retailers aren't faring poorly, they are hoping that this new marketing campaign (the banners' $28,000 price tag was paid by the developers of shopping center Plaza El Segundo) will draw larger crowds on weekends and nights.
