Following the crushing news that the Santa Monica City Council wants to remove 300 carob trees, in addition to 23 ficus trees, the embattled Treesavers group is asking the city for a tree commission. Via the Santa Monica Daily Press: "Jerry Rubin, one of the leaders of the Treesavers, filed a written communications request to place a discussion item on a future council agenda."
