Today the City Council will weigh in on that proposal to put up two 76 foot tall billboards next to the 10 freeway in downtown, according to the Los Angeles Times. Revenue from the blinking signs--which change digital imagery 24 hours a day/increase our ADD-- would help fund a park in South Los Angeles, but anti-billboard activists worry the signs would open the door towards more highway billboards and cause car accidents. A particularly prickly issue, the city planning commission shot down the idea in February amid ugly accusations of billboard strong-arming and blackmailing. Update to follow.
