An anonymous Los Angeles renter seeks the joy and convenience of living in a garage, without all the bureaucratic hassle:
Hi Curbed: My friend is considering renting out a garage unit, but is worried that the city might discover the illegal unit and force him to move. Is this something that happens very often or at all? Does the city walk around and evict people in illegal units and/or force owners to remove illegal units?Assuming this "friend" and his "landlord" have no qualm getting around LA Housing's mandatory rental property inspections, wouldn't it be the property owner who's to blame for a violation? Can an allegedly ignorant, innocent tenant be evicted from a sub-standard rental?
