Some interesting afternoon news from downtown: On the heels of that $40 million "Bringing Back Broadway" campaign, applications have been filed to create condominiums in two Broadway theater buildings, reports Blogdowntown. The buildings: The Broadway office tower of the Palace Theatre and the Fox office tower of the Los Angeles Theater. The Broadway tower would be converted to 20 condo units and the office section of the Los Angeles building would be converted to 96 live/work units. Blogdowntown's Eric Richardson reminds us that there are apartments above the Million Dollar Theater and lofts above the Orpheum Theater, but there are no other condominiums above historical theaters in this section of Broadway. According to documents filed with the Planning Department, the units in the Los Angeles building would range from 433-743 square feet, while the units in the Palace would range from 611-1,168 square feet.
