"I have a question that hopefully your readers can help me with. I'm moving in to my boyfriend's rent controlled, Silver Lake apartment but we are unsure if we should notify his landlady about it. His lease states the occupancy as one person so we are worried that if we notify her she will hike the rent up beyond the allowable percentage. Does adding a second person to a rent-controlled lease allow the owner to break rent controlled prices?
