Lots of janitors out in sun today, picketing in Century City. A press release by the janitors notes that "thousands of janitors marched and rallied outside buildings owned by The Irvine Company in Century City and in Orange County...the [janitors were] playing drums, waving brooms and chanting." Irvine Company is accused of not paying San Diego janitors' health care expenses; the plan is to take a strike authorization vote this Sat, May 3." Better start emptying your own office trash if you work at an Irvine building--the company's portfolio in West Los Angeles includes Fox Plaza and Westwood Gateway, among many others.
