City Controller Laura Chick has released her audit of the LAPD's new headquarters downtown. Key points: 1) The cost has gone from a budgeted $303 million to $437 million plus, and counting; 2) The Bureau of Engineering's project management was adequate; 3) The "single-bid negotiations" with contractor Tutor Saliba resulted in higher costs. We're reading through the report right now, but nevertheless we feel this somehow constitutes a drink under the unpublished, fine print guidelines of the LAPD HQ drinking game. The report is presented as a 67-page PDF download, free for the perusing. [Office of the Controller]
