Architectural Record is out today with list of unbuilt, ambitiously-designed homes--all of which incorporate green features (one home has spinach cells, which "generate power and move with the sun.") You may have seen some of these designs before, but included in this list: Local architecture firm Pugh + Scarpa (of Fuller Lofts fame) and their San Vicente Residence in Santa Monica. There's plenty of description, but start with this: the "perforated metal skin, clerestory panels, and operable skylights facilitate cross ventilation, eliminating the need for air conditioning, the architects say."
