The latest store info, retail gossip and sidewalk scenes from street-obsessed Racked LA, the newest member of the Curbed family.
SILVER LAKE: First, Silver Lake got LAMill Coffee, and now Racked gets an update on the new LAMILL retail space next door. "A sliver of a peek inside and we could see a table with lamp, china, and potentially other boxed merch." Boxed merch is great, but could they please add wireless, too?
SILVER LAKE: An opening and now a closing. Fresh photos of the now-shuttered Sunset Orange interior store in Silver Lake. A sign in the window reads: "Lost our lease. Landlord won't even negotiate. Thank you Silver Lake for six great years." Rising rents?
MELROSE AVE: Hello, hairy new friend. Japanese urban streetwear company A Bathing Ape is moving into the former home of CoSTUME NATIONAL and there's a big party at the store tomorrow night. Go say hello to the giant Go Ape here.
SANTA MONICA BLVD: Racked takes some snaps of the amazing art aka the window displays at the Out of the Closet thrift store on Santa Monica Boulevard. It's the work of visual artist Edgar Israel Orduna (professionally known as eio), who started designing them seven years ago.
