— A cadre of local leaders—including Santa Monica mayor Herb Katz— recently arrived in DC to urge Congress to fund our schools, anti-gang programs, and nascent transportation system. According to the LA Times, the group is pushing for federal funding for a light rail link from the beach to Downtown, most likely the second half of the Expo Line. Also with the group is Mayor Villaraigosa, who met this morning with Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to talk immigration and security. [LA Times]
