Why is designer Philippe Starck (Katsuya, S Bar) so crabby? Starck has made a series of self-deprecating remarks lately, including this one: "I think my job is absolutely useless.” (Said at the TED conference in March.) He's also believes that in the future, “there will be no more designers.” Blogger/former Dwell editor Allison Arieff writes that after years of creating disposable, and some might argue unusable, objects, "the increasingly cynical vibe of his creations seems to have caught up with him."
