Keep hunting that white whale, Captain Ahab! In Sunday's Opinion section of the LA Times, County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky once again tries to 'splain his quest to stop density from invading "charming neighborhoods" and directing it to job centers like downtown, Hollywood, Century City, Warner Center, Wilshire Center, the Harbor Gateway and the Van Nuys Civic Center. Unfortunately, NIMBYs in almost everyone of those neighborhoods are opposed to more density. Councilman Jack Weiss was almost recalled for supporting residential in Century City. Councilman Dennis Zine has installed a limitation on new residential development in Warner Center. The people in the Harbor Gateway area don't seem too happy to host the density either. And Hollywood is our neighborhood, and we ain't taking no more stinking density! [LA Times]
