The Daily News reports that these are "nervous times" for both local neighborhood councils and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE), a department within the city of Los Angeles that offers recommendations to neighborhood councils. The News reports that neighborhood councils (and there are 88 certified neighborhood councils in Los Angeles, a spokeswoman for DONE tells us), are worried the $50,000 given annually to councils will be cut by City Hall; there are also concerns about who Mayor Villaraigosa will name as the new General Manager of DONE.
