A few weeks ago, Americana at Brand developer Rick Caruso suggested naming a private street at the forthcoming Glendale project "Excelsior Way," a proposal that irked city officials, who asked Caruso to come back and suggest another name. On Tuesday night, the developer returned, giving a slide show presentation of progress of Americana at Brand set to the song "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood, reports the Glendale News Press' Jason Wells. For those unfamiliar with the 1984 song, it has those soaring lyrics "And I'm proud to be American", etc, while the video features Greenwood playing a farmer who loses the family farm. Apparently, the city council was so swayed by the presentation that someone suggested naming the street after Caruso. "The council held their vote for the name Caruso Way, which was followed quickly with applause and handshakes from a small audience as Caruso and several executives walked back down the aisle to leave." Next up: Council will consider officially changing city's name to Carusodale.
