Silver lining in writers' strike: More thrift stores. Armani Maxwell, owner of the Sharp Image men's thrift shop at Santa Monica and La Cienega, issued a press release today announcing plans to open five new stores in the city. Business is booming for Mr. Maxwell, who says more out-work-writers are coming in, looking for cheap clothes. Additionally, inventory is up since movie studios are looking to unload their wardrobes before the moths chew holes in everything.
