Local neighborhood councils want to give Reseda Boulevard a make-over by adding new architecture, shops, restaurants and mixed-use buildings, and maybe even some art galleries and theaters, according to the Daily News. This isn't the first time locals have tried to pretty up the boulevard: ten years ago, a group dubbed the area "Northridge Oasis - the Cultural Center of the Valley" but the improvements never came and the outdoor dining and sidewalk cafes never arrived. Councilman Greig Smith, who once owned a tuxedo shop (how many of those are still around?) on the boulevard, is one of those pushing for improvements and looking for create the first city plan for Northridge since the mid-1970s.[Daily News]
