Gene Burke, founder of Santa Monica for Safe Drinking Water Coalition, is helping lead a city effort to rid the fluoride from Santa Monica's drinking water, according to the Santa Monica Mirror. Burke is among those who believe fluoride aids won't save your teeth from rotting and falling out, while other experts note the FDA has "never approved fluoride products for ingestion, and there is considerable evidence that fluoride is unhealthful to ingest." A Topanga-Malibu group is also fighting the fluoride in their water. The paper fails to provide a reaction from local Santa Monica dentists, however. [Santa Monica Mirror]
