Well, hello! In a bold challenge to the surrounding one-story homes, a striking new green and taupe-colored rental building has sprung up at 1604 Alvarado (facing Glendale Blvd) in Echo Park. Design-wise, we're sensing these inspirations: ski lodge/outlet mall in Pennsylvania/Kithaus/small police station in Finland. An answering machine message (there's a phone number on the building) talks up all the appliances and fireplaces at this project, which is comprised of two-bedroom, two-bath residences. But there's no word on rental prices--anyone want to take a guess?
