While Boyle Heights residents patiently await the arrival of real estate developer/boxer Oscar De La Hoya's mixed-use development, let us turn our attention to De La Hoya's more recent project, Tierra del Rey, a 107-unit development that broke ground yesterday. And there's the boxer--and South Gate Mayor Bill DeWitt--playing with a big toy. De La Hoya looks happy. Located on five acres at Firestone Boulevard and Calden Avenue in South Gate, the project, which'll offer townhomes starting in the mid $300,000s, is the first development from De La Hoya's Golden Boy Partners company and should serve to offer some insight into the gloved one's taste.
