[Updated rendering of Mira condos in Monterey Park - now with pool in front!]
On Monday's post about the new luxury condo project on Atlantic Blvd., the Monterey Park developer left a few clues about the name switcheroo. Turns out some West Hollywood hotel was already named Mondrian: "I decided to rename it MIRA, in Spanish is 'Look,' in Latin is a word for 'Wonderful' and in Chinese, it sounds like 'American-Chinese.' It is also the name of a binary star in the constellation Cetus."

Developer Jason Chung continues: "The MIRA is targeted at a different buyers group than the Atlantic Time Square Project and its retail/restaurant is never going to be a national chain." Wow, never!

The Mira also sports a new design, the developer reports, in an email Tuesday to Curbed LA: "The new design brings the pool to the front of the building. It's a glass pool so that the reflection from the pool will create an interesting feature on the streetscape."

These floor plans, the developer explained, were done in China, without knowledge of where the building would exactly be.
